I agree, assuming the reduction in initial resistance is OK. There will be a brief period of parallel operation when more current flows through two than a single one.
Do we know if they are failing shorted or open? If failing open, it will continue to work with a parallel install. If failing shorted, he won't know it failed, but then he wouldn't know even if he didn't have one in parallel.
Thanks for the correction.No problem. I've made my share of errors and appreciate it when someone points them out. I try to do it politely - the way I'd like to hear them tell me. I've learned a lot here - it's good to see discussions remain focused on the technical, not the personal.
