Does the main transformer have any numbers/letters on it? If that can be identified, that would be a good clue as to the size of the power supply. As ktmrfs states, still a crapshoot without schematic but may give a ball park estimate of what's needed for the thermistor.
My experience with circuits like this and knowing the market for these devices leads me to believe just knowing the amount of capacitance isn't going to bring absolute certainty as to the size of thermistor needed.
