Yes, the diode bridge is where Salvo said to look, up against the heat sink. Note it has two sets of specs, one for if against the heat sink and the other for not.
So the 2R025 is ok using Salvo's amps and might be better for steady state than the 5R020? We have different amps being used to protect the diode bridge but both at 170v so we get low R or a fairly high R depending on which amp spec is used. Salvo uses the high amp spec, but using the lower amps spec means the 2R is no good (unless that weird backwards "minimum" wording allows it)
I installed a 5R020 in the newer converter before the last camping trip and most of this thread took place, but have not tried it for charging batteries. It is working now just as a Float charger set at 13.5v. it has been on for a week and is not heating up--at least the fan has not come on--I haven't peeked inside.
I used the other converter with its 5R020, which I damaged with a hot restart while camping, but the unit still worked anyway on a cold restart.
I want to replace that broken 5R020 in any case, so it is up for grabs what to replace it with. If the undamaged 5R020 will be ok in the other charger then it would be easier to leave it there and just not do any hot restarts.
Once I get the word from PowerMax what they are using these days, then I will be better placed what to do, and from this educational thread (thanks !!!) I will be able to ask them some questions.
