Currently, I am hooked to a 30 amp box, using an adapter to hook to my 50 amp system. Once I get my conversion parts here, I will get out the ohms meter and starting at the 30 amp male plug, I will check to see what leads correspond to the terminals on the plug-in terminals, then hook the wires where indicated. I can't forsee any use for that additional wire. Could I be looking at that wrong?
Your 30 amp cord has 3 wires, black (hot), white (neutral), and green (ground). The 50 amp Marinco style connector that fits your TT has 4 connections, 2 hots, 1 neutral, and 1 ground. Connect the 30 amp cord's ground and neutral wires to their respective terminals, and the hot wire to one of the 2 hot terminals with a jumper to the second hot terminal. Now you have the very long 30/50 amp spare cord/adapter you want.
