I have a 30 foot 10/3 cord that has a 3 prong twist lock male that goes to my Yamaha ef2800i generator and a female that plugs into a transfer switch in my garage for storm related backup power. However, the 2800 is proving marginal, struggling to power up the 10,000 btu ac and the small 6 gallon 110 volt water heater so I want to use my two Honda eu2000s in series but the Honda with the Transgen adaptor takes a 30 amp RV plug, not a twist lock. What is the best way to convert my male twist lock to a 30 amp rv plug? I would like to preserve option of both so cutting off and putting a new rv plug is less appealing. Is there an adaptor plug u recommend or something else easy ? We were hit by Irma and trying to make this happen soon, no power to 6 million people

If I understand right, I think this will solve your problem.

I bought an short adapter cord, twist lock on one side, rv 3 way female on the other from a popular online shopping site. I believe I've seen them at a popular physical retailer as well.Running electric water heater on generator is going to consume most of the power even from twin 2000w Honda (4kw peak, 3.2kw continous) WH probably wants 2.4kw... you won't be able to run AC and WH at the same time.

Fair point, I am not running them both st the same time, that would certainly be way too much. The struggles related to the ac was bc I was feeding house, then power strip then extension cord during hurricane power outage. Ran extension cord direct to ac and it ran fine on eco mode. Hot water heater problem was bc I inadvertently had large wine cooler connected to gen in addition to water heater. Usually, just the water heater by itself for 30-45 min works great. It draws somewhere close to 2000 watts

Standard Generator to RV power adapter sounds like what you need Get it at most any RV store or Generator store

I do heat my water with the air running, but I "cheat" and use load support with the Magnum inverter/charger. Generator is the Yamaha 3000 iSEB.

Water heater is not problem, uses 1500 watts and only takes 45 min to make it very hot. Good for 3 moderately quick showers. I don't leave it on, no need to.
