I had the outlet installed in a garage where I store my RV and they installed the wrong type. I was hoping there was an easy solution to just plug in an adapter and be done with it. Sounds like maybe the best solution is to get the electrician back out and have him take out the 14-30R and install a TT-30R.
You still need to make sure the outlet you end up with is 120v. The wire to it still has four wires and you only want three. Stick-house electricians can't be trusted for RV work, since they don't often see a 30 with 120.
Use your own multi-meter to check the new outlet's voltage before you ever plug the RV shore cord into it.
