In my view (assuming very little voltage drop via 4 AWG between controller and batts), 14.8v is a bit high as it will unnecessarily up water consumption, while 14.4v (though sufficient), will limit the EQ voltage to only 15.1v, thus 14.6v seems like a fair compromise and will still allow 15.3v in EQ mode...JMO

Oops, upon a re-read I too share hmknightmc's EQ voltage concern...This had not occurred to me since I do a system disconnect before equalizing...
