The old GC2's were over 4 years old. I just happened to check the specific gravity of them last week. All cells were in the (lower) "green zone". I'm sure the batteries could have lasted at least a year longer. But I did notice a slight capacity loss. Why deal with a little capacity loss when new batteries can be had for less than two tanks of fuel. :hBFL13 wrote:

I agree with this approach. It is not so much how many years you get out of them as it is when they don't cut the mustard anymore when actually camping. The hydrometer provided the warning and action was taken. Makes sense to me.
