cracks on lap caulk seal

My 2000 Jayco Eagle has devolped small cracks on the roof sealing material. Although there are no leaks so far can I fill in these small cracks with a liquid sealing caulk similar to what is on it? I think it's factory sealed with Dicor self leveling caulk. And I bought it new.
Thanks for any and all replies.

  • Great answers everybody! I did use Dicor liquid. I'll only use Dicor products on my roof for sealing or repairing. I worked at a local RV dealership for 7 years and saw a lot of damaged roofs. So I sort of know what I'm dealing with. Most of the time working at the dealership I was doing walk-throughs, PDI, delivery, anything but sell, and RV shows. I like this forum. I've gained much knowledge from all forums.
    Thanks for all the advice.

  • You might consider using eternabond tape. Do a search and you will find many comments. You won't have this problem again if you use eternabond.
  • Make sure the cracks are not occurring because the parts are moving. The only crack in the caulk I've found on my roof was from a part that wasn't tight. An extra wood screw and some Dicor over the cracked area and it was good to go.
  • According to their website, Pro-Flex is not to be used on rubber roofs. Use Dicor self leveling sealant which is designed to be used on RV roofs.
  • Just clean the old with denatured alcohol, mineral spirits, or acetone and recoat with Dicor self leveling. Do noy use any cleaning product with petrolium distillates or citric acid if the roof is EPDM or TPO.

I don't think Pro Flex is a roof caulk.

Correct! It's a side sealer. For the roof use Dicor Self Leveling Roof Caulk and Geocell ProFlex on the sides of the RV.

  • Always remove the old caulking then clean the surface with an alkahol based cleaner and recaulk with dicor self leveling caulk.
  • I had some cracks show up on our 2007 Spree. Based on my research on this issue, I cleaned the old caulk and applied fresh self leveling Dicor on top. It is holding up so far.
