Crank for electric tongue jack

I have a 1998 Rockwood Ultra lite.

It has an electric jack. What are my options for when the battery is dead?
  • Usually there's some kind of cover you can take off the top and insert a tool to turn them by hand. The tool should have come with the jack.
  • Every brand is different, but usually there is a plug you remove to access some sort of fitting to crank it manually with a socket wrench.
  • Read the owners manual and find out. The one I have has a 3/4 hex nut on the top for a crank handle. If it fails, start cranking.

You assume I have the owners manual....

I guess I know what I will be googling.
  • mine has a level on top take out two screws and theres a place for a wrench ,mine is a 3/8ths rachet.

Maybe carry a spare battery if it happens often.

Hasn't happened yes, but want to be prepared for the inevitability.
  • Happened with my son-in-laws dad on last camping trip, jack failed,no tool. He opened up the top as others have said and we found a socket with extension that fit and a ratchet and we were in business.
