Crispy brown 921 socket?

Anyone else have an issue with 921 bulbs cooking the sockets? Ours
Are turning brown and becoming worrysome. I know switching to LED will address the issue but was wondering if this is a common thing in the meantime.
  • Maybe the socket is only rated for a 912 lamp. The 912 is 1 amp and the 921 is 1.4 amps at 12.8 volts. An LED lamp is the best solution.

Certainly happened in my POPUP trailer. The socket area, the lens, and even on the ceiling was being affected by the hot incandescent 921 bulb. Changing to the $4.95 ebay/china board was a no-brainer for me...

  • Yep, common problem, replaced all of mine with the 48 LED boards from china, a lot less power consumption and heat and better light. :)
  • YES!!
    Have seen that many times
Once or twice it burned the switch assembly
My customer asked how could this happen .... Well poor connections and high current -- the result is always bad or really bad
Get rid of the 921 bulbs and get some LED's in there before you have a fire
  • My porch light did that. Had to replace the complete fixture as the bulb welded itself in the socket
