This statement would probably apply to just about any diesel rig out there. The question is, how high does it go?
Most turbo diesels are OK to run at 1250F or so for long periods. Any higher than that would not be good for long periods.
What I do is when the temps get to 1100F or so and climbing fast, I downshift a gear to keep the RPMs up and temperatures down below the 1250F mark. If this doesn't do it, I downshift another gear, and so on until I find the right speed and gear to use.
It's never a bad idea to get the rig looked at. But there may not be a problem to worry about here.
