My German cars all tended to be hard on fuel pump relays, some new OEM relays lasting less than 18 months before failure. (for Bosch mechanical/electrical fuel injection systems) I think they were made in Europe by Seimens. I always kept an extra relay or pigtail jumper with me. The plastic caps were one time snap on type without seals. Some relays were in the cabin, some under the hood but they all failed regularly. It's time to call a tow truck if you can't figure it out on the road.
