Many people (myslef included) call a portable Propane Cylinder a Propane tank.
Generally the date is in plain english and is on the collar that is around the valve,, or it may be stamped near the valve
on a FIXED propane tank, such as my 100 pound tank on my Class A.. You may ignore it.. Oh there is one,, (I would have to search) but there is no need for recertification so it's meaningless. Mounted tanks only need to be inspected,, if you see a whole lot of rust.. Clean and re-paint.. (If it's just surface rust that is) If there is deep pitting, have a pro look at it.
But it only needs professional attention when it fails the visual inspection.
Luggable tanks like my 20 pound "Emergency tank" need regular professional inspection and recertification.
