dc to 120 volt inverter wiring

I have two 6 volt batteries wired in series, I want to wire an inverter right at the batteries. What would be the best way. With 12 volt batteries its easy positive to positive and negative to negative. Any help is appreciated
  • One battery's positive is connected directly to the other battery's negative. Don't use either of these 2 posts. Use the remaining positive and negative that aren't connected together. That is the one and only way it will work.
  • Use the positive from one six volt and the negative from the other six volt.
  • When I put a wire on 1 neg. And 1 pos. ( 1 from each battery ) I only measured 6 volts, that is why I was inquiring I thought I would 12 volts

    There's only one way.

    You might be well advised to get a voltmeter.
  • The pair is just a big 12v battery. (ignore the terminals that connect the two batteries)
    Wire same as any 12v.... ++ & --

    Here are two drawings that may explain it for you...

    The POWER INVERTER will need 12VDC to operate.
