Dicor on top of eternabond microsealant residue?

I just removed some eternabond and replaced it with a new piece. I was able to get the gray sticky stuff off with much elbow grease and several pads of 3m in various grits. I used mostly red. I scrubbed with denatured alcohol. Not sure if that was the best solvent but it was what I had. I think dicor is pretty good but they do recommend cleaning off old sealant.
