Difference in honda generators Big store vs small dealer?

Pricing out Honda 2000's. Overall big box store $200 less than Honda dealer. Any reason? Honda's part numbers from their on line site has 3 different part numbers for their 2000I.

EU2000iT1A1, EU2000I1A1, EU2000IKN, EU2000IKC

Is there any difference from one or the other?

  • I do not believe that there are different versions of Honda generators for different retailers.

Interesting, I didn't know they made different units for each store.
It seems like it would be counter productive.
  • And I believe the California Carb Compliant has its own part number as well.
  • I didnt have much luck looking up those numbers.

They make a companion version which has a 30A recep on it.

They also have a camo version.

And an OSHA compliant which looks like its GFI only.
  • You will not find much of a price difference the prices are fixed by Honda. The only difference may be service if you were to need it which may be better at a small shop. Parts are available on line. I have three of the 2000I's one of which is the companion model all were purchased on line and have never needed any service that I could not do myself such as oil changes and cleaning the air filter , changing the spark plug also changed one carb and one muffler , over 12 years of using them. Great machines
