I received a response from Brian Downs at champion.
to paraphrase his response, the 100156 uses a cigarette lighter style 12vdc charging plug instead of the slanted plug style. Also the 100156 has rubber covers on the outlets, and are equiped with GFCI.
Everything else internally are identical.
