Thankfully enforced laws regarding standards for measurement are easy to interpret.
Standards for quality are few and far in between. The ISO program seems to be aimed at industry - insuring in some cases that exactly the quality of garbage designed is produced.
I found the I.E.C. standard for computer power cords to be of interest.
The Chinese are masters at producing DC products using hair thin power conductors and wire gauge philosophy from some other galaxy.
