I splurged and got a Tailgater automatic antenna. Best $400 I ever spent. Originally I intended to use it as a portable so I could 'find a hole in the trees' since the roof mounted antenna on our last coach often irritated me because I could not get a clear view I needed. After several months of portable use, I ended up mounting it on the roof. I found the 'clear view' issue to be a wash as what you lost in 'pointablity' was offset by the higher vantage point of being on the roof. I found quite often I was dragging the dish up there anyway. Now I just try to get a site that's clear of trees (if possible). The system 'goes to work' as soon as you are plugged into shore power and usually by the time we are done hooking everything up, it's found the satellite and is playing TV. Something I noticed is that even when the receiver is off, the dish is still powered up and since many campsites are really quiet at night, you might hear the little motors buzzing at times during the night. I put in a switch that shuts off the satellite receiver outlet so I can turn it off at night. Downside is that the start-up is delayed as the receiver reboots and finds the satellite again in the morning when I turn the switch on.
