Do you compensate for slides-outs when leveling first?

Our ordered Class C will come with 2 slide-outs, one on the driver's side for the dinette and the other on the passenger's side for the rear queen bed. It also will have levelers.
What procedure do you follow when you arrive at your site?
Some say to level first then put out the slides. Will the difference in weigh distribution throw it off level? And will being off level cause problems as it goes out or is pulled in?
Are problems with levelers and slide-outs common or rare? Am I just seeing the trouble ones posted and there are many, many that have no problems ever?

  • I always leveled first. I think the slide opening is more structurally sound with the slide in and less apt to get out-of-square (called racking in engineering terms). Some manufacturers owner's manuals say level first; some say level after extending the slide. JMHO

  • I used to level my winnie and then run out the slides if needed.

  • This is one of those Check the Book things as some want it one way, and others, the other. I usually level first then run the slides but I think Winnie actually suggests the opposite.
