Here's my suggestions for a new line of portable variable speed inverter based Honda generators:
1) No new model with an idling sound level greater than that of the current Honda EU3000iS's 49 dB(A) @ 1/4 load.
2) No new model with a full power sound level greater than that of the legendary Honda EX650's 54 dB(A) @ it's fixed full power RPM.
3) Any of the new models capable of being operated in parallel with any other of the new models - identical new models not being required - i.e. being able to parallel a 1000 watt new model with a 3000 watt new model.
4) All new models having at least two (2) 120V outlets regardless of their output power rating.
5) All new model gas tanks being of the non-spillable and ultra-safe fuel cell type (as in racing cars) instead of merely a container full of liquid gasoline.
6) All new models having a power to weight ratio equal to or better than that of the current Honda EU1000i.
7) All new models capable of being connected to an external extended capacity fuel tank.
8) All new models having a 12 V DC output port capable of at least 1/2 of the unit's full power rating.
9) All new models having remote start capability.
10) All new models having an optional operating mode of where only a specific person could start it - similar to firearms where only a specific person can fire them. This would help with deterring generator theft ... some other system could be used - this approach is merely a suggestion.
11) No new model having a U.S. Suggested Retail Price greater than around 40 cents per watt in it's base configuration.
12) All new models having a Manufacturer's Warranty (in the U.S.) of at least two (2) years.
13) All new models capable of safe and reliable operation fully exposed to any kind of weather - including water immersion up to a height of at least two (2) inches.
14) All new models to come standard with ultra-isolation feet to nearly eliminate any vibration transfer to surfaces such as the bed of pickups.
15) All new models to have built-in four-place resolution voltmeters.
16) All new models to have built-in three-place resolution ammeters.
17) All new models to have an easily accessible gasoline shut-off valve so as to make possible running them to empty in all fuel areas after the shut-off valve.
18) All new models to have an engine utilizing fuel-injection technology.
19) All new models to have either an easily accessible and clearly marked manual altitude compensation adjustment or to have automatic altitude compensation. (If required - as altitude compensation may not be necessary when using fuel injection technology.)
