And yes, I'm a Honda 650 want-to-be owner.
Here's a typical one currently, or recently, for sale on eBay. They come up every once and awile on eBay. You might want to also check Craig's List too:

My brother recently gave me a mint condition (2-3 hours on it) Honda EX1000 four-stroke. But it's a bit louder than the EX650. The EX1000 is 64dB at full power, so it's too loud for drycamping other than out in the middle of nowhere. I don't need 1000 watts for anything when camping anyway - as the EX650 and the built-in 4KW Onan (which is probably somewhat quieter than 64dB running within it's coach compartment) serve all of our needs.
Here's those specs on the great discontinued fixed speed older Honda portables (I'd avoid the two-stroke one):

FWIW, last week - for the 2nd time - a fellow camper came and asked our camping friend (he uses an EX650 too) what kind of generator he was using. There were numerous modern variable speed inverter Hondas throughout the NFS campground - but they wanted to know what unusual type of generator he had ... they're that quiet! Their sound spectrum is also such that even at 54dB they give the impression that they are quieter and less irritating than the modern Hondas even when the modern Hondas are only idling. It's so unobtrusive that he uses his EX650 even into quiet hours and has never been called on it.
