Not if you throttle back the voltage on the battery terminals just enough so the generator's snot stays in the nose.
That's one reason to have a manually adjustable PS as a battery charger - modulation of battery acceptance via control of voltage on it's terminals such that the available generator can handle the charging current that you set.
Of course we all know that - but if you're like me - haven't tried it yet.
