The ad on this battery, which as Nichols correctly stated is a 158 AH battery at 20 hours, not 175 as advertised, claims this battery has never been deeply discharged, only held in float for a year.
So your experience matches what I said earlier about having to use it with a 50% state of discharge, and then fill it all the way back up with the Megawatt at 14.4V at 77F.
Ordered a 10 spin 500ohm 2 watt pot today, not looking forward to pulling out the tiny pot on the Mega Watt 30 and resoldering, perhaps thinking a 36 amp Mega Watt might be the way to go, if I can get 14.4V out of it. 30 amps would be a C/5 charge rate. Wondering out loud if that's going to be plenty for this battery, charge rate wise. So I have about 80 AH of usable charge capacity at 50% SOC. I'll probably run it down to 12.3V with no load on it, and then run a few hours watching TV while the generator tops it back up, watch some pre season football and drink some peanuts, eat some IPA beer, and run the Honda Eu2000I's paired with the AC going to see how the gennies handle things.
Good info to know, Landy, thanks for that post up.
