Not sure how different the Megawatts is than the Cheapowatt, but it was pretty easy to replace the Cheapowatts potentiometer with a 10 turn 1K ohm pot.
I'd double check the resistance of the included Pot. I was able to use the same 10 turn 1000 ohm Pot on My Meanwell, after I smoked my cheapowatt for science, which was much more difficult to solder on due to less room and a double sided circuit board and 5x the $ consequence for failure.
Get yourself some thermal grease too if you attempt this and be extra careful peeling the thermal pads from between the heatsinks and transistors, which is required to get to the circuit board.
Might as well get a better Fan too if you are inside the thing. My Meanwell Now has a 60 and an 80MM fan on the lid, in addition to the super loud and fast 40MM fan it came with.
I still have to attach the extra heatsinks with thermal epoxy to the exterior casing that Westend mailed me last year.
The 10 turn pot Imbues a feeling of power which causes me to beat my chest like a Silverback gorilla. Why screw with attempting to find 14.4 with a jeweler's screwdriver, when I can easily dial in 14.46v by twisting the 10 turn pot and grunt like a banana infused gorilla instead :)
A c/5 rate is 20%, which is lifeline's Recommended minimum initial bulk current. Your VW's alternator over some 4 awg jumper cables could likely do a 50% rate at idle. I saw 100 amps into that Lifeline over 2awg Cable from a 2013 Ram Powerwagon's alternator at idle, but the alternator quickly hit 220F too.
