"This battery does NOT accept big amps like other AGM's, for reasons unknown. Not a lot of heavy thick .105" or greater plates makes for slow charging AGM's? My Mega 30 would stuff a Trojan T-1275 with 38 amps at start up, and come down to 29 or 30 amps in 30 seconds."
Remember what I said about acid starved versus acid surplus absorbed glass mat battery performance and characteristics?
Thick plates have little to do with such behavior as you are experiencing. But thick mats have everything to so with CCA related performance. A very long battery with acid starved extremely thick plates, would exhibit a greater CCA and recharge acceptance (lower impedance) than a battery with thick mats. I look at it this way, if you treat that battery right, it is going to have a long, long, serviceable life. So it cannot recharge at 100 amps. Well, you can't have everything...
