It sounds like your specific AGM is just not going to recharge at a higher rate from the levels you have depleted it to even if you increase wire diameter or a higher wattage power supply.
Many boaters seem to go AGM but then not take advantage of the higher acceptance rate and the AGMS do not yield a good return. Seems your specific AGM is the opposite.
