Am I ever fortunate that the BORG is merely a charger and isn't intended to be a converter. Noise is placed near last down the list. Rocky Mountain Jim sure was unfortunate in getting a Megawatt with a bummer fan. The ten turn pots "turn" some people "off" because it takes a lot of twisting to really tweak the voltage over a wide span. But that extreme resolution also prevents a casual bump against the charger from turning into a fiasco. Blasting cooler air across transistor heat sinks plus moving 150% more air through the unit ought to improve the Mega's reliability considerably. Ball bearing brushless fans also help.
But making a charger so complicated it needs lots of heat transfer doing nothing is not a wise idea. Sort of like asking Hoss Cartwright to watch the kids and then finding empty cupboards and refrigerator.
