Since the last 20% of charge takes hours no matter the charging source, I personally don't want my AGM to take hours to get to 80%, or my future flooded for that matter.
My group 27 Northstar is certainly no Lifeline, but it also has no attainable initial current limit, and I've seen it suck 106 amps from my alternator, at which point the single v belt begins squealing.
I wonder how much it could take, but will likely never know.
My Meanwell is good for 'only' 40 amps, but if I have grid power, I have no time limit. The 40 amps is to wake it up after 4 or 5 cycles of only low and slow solar recharges have turned it petulant.
And while Northstar says 14.46v maximum at 77f, my Vehicles voltage regulator will allow 14.9v even when the battery is brimming full and accepting 0.0x amps
So be it. I've not noticed any capacity loss yet at 22 months and about 150 deep cycles, and I have the tools and interest and desire to notice capacity loss.
I wonder how Niner's 150AH Deka tellycom AGM would perform on a CCA test, even if it is never to start an engine.
Mex, what's your take on the "pulse" cranking amps that Odyssey, Northstar and even Lifeline make mention of?
Lifeline calls them 'Instant amps at 0.2 seconds' rather than 'pulse', and their group 31 has 1950 of them. Odyssey and NS claim to have 2150 in their 31 flavor.
My 930CCA Northstar AGM can crank and start my engine faster than 1300CCA of flooded marine battery could. It claims to have 1750 'pulse cranking amps.
