I know I've mentioned this before, but do not trust the RC wattmeter to read 0.75 amps accurately. Double check with your clamp on meter.
Regarding voltage as to how it relates to state of charge, well, it doesn't, not for a long while after the charging source is removed.
My NS AGM fully charged resting voltage is 13.06v. If I saw only 13.06v immediately after driving for 2 hours at night, I'd know the battery is nowhere near fully charged, even if my battery monitor didn't tell me.
That Lifeline GPL-31XT I got to break in would hold/rebound to over 13.23v for a week, even after pulling 5 or 6AH from it. I was very surprised.
Voltage is a Pisspoor method for determining state of charge, especially on a recently charged battery. I know some people like to use it like a gas gauge, and seeing a low voltage can certainly be all that is required to know when it is time to start the charging process, but a higher voltage reading after a recent charging spate means practically nothing.
So if you have that clamp on meter, you can easily see how much the Toureg is feeding it while idling, and the Megawatt applied to it at that point, at 14.4 after driving and seeing the amps flowing can indicate state of charge.
But voltage alone, not even close. It seems to take 3 to 4 hours for amps to taper to 0.5% of capacity once absorption voltage is reached at the battery terminals. If there were a shortcut to achieving this in 2 hours, then lead acid batteries would be much longer lived and more user friendly and resistant to abuse and happier with the one size fits all approach of most automatic charging sources.
