That is because the dielectric grease is getting SCRAPED AWAY where the electrical contact is made. The layer of grease on the direct contact surfaces is so thin as to be irrelevant, or completely nonexistent.
The grease itself will not pass current. It prevents corrosion because it's smeared all over everything else besides where the electrical contact is made.
