Domestic ac freeze up
Well we had a successful trip to Panama City beach. Only cost a new truck lol and an ac that froze up in northern ga. It wasn't particular warm that night. What are some causes of freeze up and should I have looked at?

4-running fan on low speed in high humidity - When it's humid outside I find I need to run our Dometic AC with fan set on high as it has frozen up on me a couple of times. Another time we had it freeze up is when we had a roof vent and a bedroom window partially open. No more issues now that we employ these tactics, it wasn't a big deal anyway as we just shut down AC for a few minutes to allow ice build-up to dissipate and restarted AC again without further issues.
- It was running on low. It was cool but probably a decent amount of humidity.

5-plugged condensate drain
Chum lee- I've seen one freeze when the divider between the supply air and the return air intake comes loose or leaking a lot of cold air into the return.
My neighbor's unit had a piece of plywood taped in with aluminium duct tape. It came loose. - Is this ducted or standard air box? I addition to the good advice already given, keep in mind, if the outside temp is near 80 or lower, the inside coil temp will be below freezing.

He should have asked Ducted or non ducted AND do you have a WALL tstat or do you have the AC controls in the ceiling assbly. If wall tstat, then the AC SHOULD have a freeze sensor, which will not allow the AC to freeze regardless of conditions. If roof Mount controls, you will not have a freeze sensor and if run on LO cool, will cause a freeze up. You need to run your system on Hi Cool if you do not have a freeze sensor. Doug- 2-stages are needed for extremely humid operation. The first one has to keep evaporator metal above 32F 0c or water vapor will freeze on it.
The second stage has more elbow room. The 2nd stage can be a dehumidifier. But the 1st stage must pass enough air to maintain the evaporator coils above 32F - It's a wall thermostat. Thinking time to call rv repair. If nothing else a good pm.
