OK, you are correct. I looked up a couple YouTube videos and "UP" is colder. Sorry, my bad.

Down = colder. Yes, should maintain on electric. Electric should take it down and hold it too.

Although we no longer have a gas-electric refer, on all my 3 past TT's, electric always brought the freezer to -2 and the refer to about 36-38 when outside temps were in the 80's and 90's. I moved the temperature slide all the way to be bottom, as far as it would reach and just left it there. Never had a problem, and any time of year, under any conditions, the freezer was always -2.

You talking about your refrigerator or the a/c : air conditioner? I have yet to hear of running the a/c on propane. I understand that if you put a sun blocking shield over the side of the RV where the fridge vents that will help. Reflextrix should work well and you can get that at Lowes or Home Depot. Some people install a fan inside the fridge and/or behind it.
For the a/c pull the cover off and clean the coils. Clean the filter inside.

Generally most people think that the fridge cools down faster on electricity.
