Dometic 8500 Awning help

Hi all, I am new to this sight. Have a new to me TT with an 8500 series Awning. Last fall A sudden Storm decided to relocate my awning up over the roof resulting in a few damaged parts. I have purchased the new parts such as new fabric, Main Rafters and a spring assy inside the main tube if you will. Plan on putting the awning together this weekend but not sure were to start with the Fabric and how to set the tension on the spring assy. Can anyone point me in the right direction for clear instructions?.

Yep. Youtube is your friend. I used spray lubricant when replacing the awning. It slides back in the grove ten times easier.
    Corn starch works great also.

  • I will be replacing the fabric in my Dometic awning this coming weekend due to age. Click here for an excellent U-Tube video on how to do it. It also talks about tensioning the arms (winding the springs). You are going to need at least one additional person to help you get it done - easier with two additional.
    Good luck. :)
