Dometic AC

Hello. I have a Lacrosse 2012 travel trailer and am having an issue with the Dometic AC unit. When I try to turn on the thermostat, all I get is the error code E1. The AC or heat will not come on at all. We have replaced the thermostat and the battery with no luck. Breakers are fine also. We are just out of the warranty period. The wiring seems to be intact from what we can see. Thanks for any help.

  • Thanks to everyone for suggestions with fixing the AC. After replacing the battery and thermostat, and wasting money on a so called repair person, we finally replaced the right part. The part was the circuit board that was in the box above filter. It came as a kit, cost about $100. We went ahead and replaced any wires where new ones were given in the kit. The freeze sensor was also included in the kit so we replaced that as well. So not really sure which piece it was, but we were thrilled when we turned it on and NO MORE E1 error. Hopes this post can help someone else correct a problem sooner and cheaper!

The wires are visible in the AC unit right above the filter. Doug

  • I read that if the battery is slightly low it could cause the error. But your right, it had nothing to do with it. Where is connector for the wires at on the AC unit? We checked the ones in the unit inside the cover where the air filter is. They were all hooked up. Is there a connector on the roof too? Thanks
  • E1 means that the Tstat does not communicate with the roof AC control board. There are only 3 wires on the tstat. You need to verify the connects at the roof AC control board and obviously at the tstat which you did when you replaced it. The BATTERY has nothing to do with your problem. Is that why you replaced it??? Doug
  • Push the plus button and on/off at the same time for three seconds this resets the unit
