Dometic RM2562 shutting off

I have a 2004 Dometic RM2652 (gas/electric) that runs on 110v 99% of the time. In the last month it just shuts off. Even though it's set on AUTO, it doesn't switch to gas. The problem is why does it shut off? Camper hasn't been moved in several months so leveling hasn't changed. It sets on a semi-permanent foundation and is always plugged in. I can flip the refrigerator off/on and it runs fine for a day or two, then quits again. None of the main breakers are being tripped and I don't lose power anywhere else. Any ideas?

  • I will definitely check those connections. Thank you all for the suggestions. I'll get back with y'all with the results
  • Shuts off...no power...intermittent problem.

Either loose connection as suggested by 'revflyr' at the 12v DC Distribution Panel, loose/bad connection on fridge lower control board, bad/dirty ground connection, or communication problem on harness/connections lower board to upper control panel.

All have to do with good clean dc power & grounds
  • If the display goes dead, then you are loosing 12 volts DC control.
I would change out the fuses. Should be one in your DC power distribution panel and one on the circuit board in the rear access to the refer.
Fuse may look good but could be failing.
Make sure the fuses fit tight in the fuse holders.
Check the wiring harness connectors for the display on the circuit board to insure that it is plugged in good.
  • You say it shuts off, do you mean the refer stops cooling?
Does switch to gas as if it looses power? if not it could indicate that the 120 volt relay on the circuit board is failing or the heating element is failing.
  • I had a similar problem, after many hrs of looking I found that we had a lose contact on the 12 volt power supply. The controls for the fridge are 12 volt. The 12 volt power strip has small copper bars that transfer the power from the buss bar to the 12 volt systems. I found the set screw lose where the small bar meets the main bar. The movement in the trailer would be just enough to trip the fridge off.
