I let the gas flame run for about 8 hrs today and the freezer only got down to 53F. The ambient temp this afternoon was 74F. My apologies to our Northern brothers for that.:)
I started thinking about how I was going to clean the rust out of the flue if it was rusty as it is around the burner. I used my inspection camera to take some pictures. The first two are at the bottom of the flue looking up at the baffle. The 3rd one is looking down from the top. It appears that the weld joint that connects the flue to the boiler tube is the only rusty area. I see a blueish green accumulation on the tube in all the pictures. Could that blue/green coating be preventing heat absorption or do you think it is the rusted weld joint that is the culprit. I can get rid of the blue/green by running a rotary flap wheel through it but I don't think there is fix for the rusty weld area. Thoughts???
