Dometic RM2862 not cooling

Hello,

I have a dometic RM2862 which doesn't cool on AC. Works fine on gas (until I run out). I'd appreciate any help on where to start checking for problems...And yes, I've verified the outlet the fridge plugs into is good and working dandy.

Thanks,

Evan
  • The 2 boards are different sizes (RM2862 is larger)
RM2852 board may not work.....that fridge has a pre-set temp control and I don't know if it can be used on a fridge with adjustable temp control.

You checked for AC voltage with fridge ON and thermistor unplugged from board.........AC incoming voltage at J4 & J5?
With AC incoming voltage and no voltage at J7 & J8 board is bad.

Here is a direct replacement board for the RM2862.......LINK
  • old-biscuit,

Thanks for the help as well. 41 ohms across the 120v heater leads. Did you see my above post that there is no voltage off the control board for the 120v heater?

I have a RM2852 sitting here as well with a leaked-out coil. Are the control boards interchangable? I found this replacement board and it lists as the same board for both units...control board

    Thanks again for the help,

    Evan
  • To replace the fuses, follow these steps:

    Turn off the refrigerator.
Unplug the power cord and disconnect the 12V wires.
    Remove the power module cover.
Snap the fuse out of the fuse holder.
Fit the new fuse in to the fuse holder.
Put back the power module cover

But if the 5A fuse is blown check if electric element is bad.
Continuity test with heater leads unplugged from lower module should read 44 Ohms

Here is a manual that covers your model......LINK
  • Well, the fuses are good. Also, the AC LED on the display lights up. There are two thick black leads coming off the control board (J7, J8). There is no voltage between them. I'm guessing the 120V heater relay on the control board is shot? Replace the control board?
  • Have you checked to see if the 120v fuse is good? There are two of them, a 5a for the 120V heater and a 3a for the 12V supply to the circuit board and control system. If that 5a fuse is open it will turn off the 120V heater and it will not allow the controls to shift to 120v power.

If you visit the website of Bryant RV you can download a copy of the service manual.
