Bananas are radioactive. If you could eat enough of them, you would get radioactive poisoning. The key is to know how much is harmful.
"Each banana contains 45 mg of potassium, which includes the radioactive isotope potassium-40. The radiation from bananas measures out as 3,520 picocuries per kilo – that's high enough to set off the more sensitive type of radiation alarms. If you ate one banana per day, you'd receive a dose of 2.6 mrem per year."
.
how does that compare with the dose of radiation you receive when you fly at 30-40,000 ft?

A recent study showed that over 1/2 of Americans are exposed to drinking water contaminated by radium. Approx. 1/2 of the drinking water in the United States comes from well water which often moves through rock containing natural uranium that releases radon gas into the water. Radon gas is often released into basements in buildings.
Potatoes have the highest amount of radioactivity in them on a per serving basis, followed by butter beans, bananas/avocados (tied), carrots, then brazil nuts.
So....
I wouldn't sit in your basement at home, have a meal containing the above foods and then chase it down with a nice glass of well water. :E If you in your wisdom, decide to abstain from this, stay away from someone who has, lol!
There's all sorts of things we can be exposed to having radioactivity in them, plus all the various sources of chemical and other pollution in our everyday world. It's a wonder we humans live to the age we do these days. But if you end up in a nursing home with dementia, and it's related to some kind of toxic pollution in your lifetime, at least you won't have any idea why. :B
