tow haul mode does NOT, repeat Does NOT keep the vehicle in 3rd gear.
Tow haul raises shift points, and locks up the torque converter full time in 2nd-5th gear. And it enables the grade brake operation. Does NOT limit the gear selection. it will shift from 4-5 at about 55 mph.
If you hold in the tow haul mode button for several seconds the "overdrive" symbol on the dash will come on with a slash through it. It locks out 5th gear. You can do this independent of tow/haul mode. Believe me, you don't want to drive on the highway limited to 3rd gear.
