E450 cruise control quit.....need suggestions.

We went on a short in-state trip the other day and during the trip I noticed that the cruise wouldn't catch. In fiddling with it I realized that the little green indicator icon next to the speedometer...

It is a 2004. A month or so ago I ask my local dealer if that recall was done on this rig. He said it had not but would only be done if there was an issue. I thought that recall involved a fire problem not just a malfunctioning cruise. At the time I talked to him the cruise was working fine.
