I've been hearing that some of these low-cost capacitance testers were actually pretty good. Don't know about your E Bay selection.

This $25 Tenma was recommended to me by a bench tech.

about 25yrs old, dont remember the exact cost either 1 grand or 2 grand

best thing i ever found for testing boards, and comparing parts

great for test caps and diodes and picking out the ones with the closest response characteristics

dual trace compare parts side by side, compare one board to another

The bloom is a bit off the rose for me on the cheap ebay electronics. I had good luck for a while, but my last few purchases have been pretty bad. They may have a year warranty, but shipping back to china is not worthwhile.

I've had moderate luck with mentioning politely in the FIRST email that I am not willing to ship back because of cost. Some people will work with that.

'Cept for ten dollar ea Panasonics. The price gets worse. I had to go to China to get that. USA Panasonic vendors ask a fortune.

I can buy a lot of caps for substitution for that price. I would have little confidence of any tester while in circuit.
