Only thing you can do is make the Float voltage as high as your Vabs so the voltage stays the same. But the upper limit of Float is lower than the upper limit of Absorb. So on mine, I have 14.8 and 14.5 set.
It is not dangerous except to maybe the controller. Sequence is connect battery then array, disconnect array before disconnecting battery.
