Smk, you can set your Vabs and a time for it, but AFAIK you can't keep the controller in MPPT except when it is in Bulk.
This came out recently in threads where some experts were posting. Perhaps I got that wrong?
Yes, the MPPT controllers have a buck converter in them which is still operating even when the tracking is off.
You still get the output amps that result from dividing the output watts by battery voltage. The input amps will be from the panel amps and not Imp anymore, and the output amps can be more than the input amps because the buck converter is still in operation. (The controller is "in PWM" but it does not just pass through panel amps like a "PWM controller" does, which has no buck converter.
The MPPT controller might also be in PWM while tracking in Bulk too--I didn't hoist in all that complicated stuff the experts were trying to explain.
