Yes, the big warning on controllers is never go over their listed Voc limit even for a second or it will fry the controller. AND that Voc limit needs to allow for what the panel's Voc can get up to in the coldest temperature you will be camping in.
Eco-W and its 42voc limit does not give you much play with 230w panels at 37Voc at 25C. Some higher watt panels 280 etc have higher Voc too like 39v. Pushing your luck going higher with the Eco-W
