Electrical Problems

06 Fleetwood Revolution 40LE, Cat diesel. About a week ago, I started the engine and Generator. The shore power was hooked up and turned on. This is the way I have been doing it for many years. I just wanted to let both power sources run for a while. The RV has been sitting for a long time. After letting them run for a while with all the appliances loaded and running, I shut everything down. When I did this, the load display over the passenger's side indicated that the generator was still running. It indicated that it still was on 50 amp. This was not true. The only power was from 120 running from shore. Every thing is working as usual, All lights and power including the generator and engine are working OK. It's as if everything is normal. Usually, when I have only the shore power on the load display indicates it is on shore power and displays 5 amps. This has me Bumfuzzled. And another thing that is different, I can no longer hear the clicks as each appliance loads up. Thanks for any advice offered. I'm thinking transfer switch but really havent a clue.

  • I must have tried everything in the book and nothing seems to work. I'm beginning to think I have the wrong book.:B
Before this glitch hit, when I had on shore power it displayed using 5 amps or what ever I was using. 7 amps was the frig, 15 was the hot water hearer and such. Also when I had the generator running, it displayed GEN running. Now, no matter what I have on, it says I have 50 amps and all 6 appliances that is listed. Everything operates OK and It may not be a problem. Even so, it makes me antsy. OH, If I turn off the battery input, all goes blank including the geny:h
  • Your energy management system is the one that detects and controls. Sometimes the board will go bad. Mine is located at the foot of my bed in the power distribution panel.

Doesn't sound like the transfer switch from what you said.
  • Hi,

I'd try disconnecting from all power, then turning on the load display (with out power). Then reconnect the 12 volt and 120 volt and see if that "reboots" the display.
