Electrical question on AF1140

Got hold of Northwoods (maker of of Arctic Fox) tech line. They say there is one GFI plug to do both circuits. Not sure how that is possible. Can anyone confirm that a gfi plug can protect anything on a separate breaker?.

Well this is easy to explain.. You need to study a whole lot more.

The GFCI protects not outlets but people who are using appliances or tools or lamps that are plugged into GFCI protected outlets.. GFCI's are required where water may be present, Kitchen, Bath and patio are the biggies, Dining table is ... sometimes considered a wet spot.

Thus your setup is like this

Shore--Main breakers--Branch Breaker---GFCI---Protected outlets.
Shore---Main breakers Branch breaker---NON PROTECTED OUTLETS
Shore---main Breakers Branch Breaker, Air conditioner or Fridge, or Microwave, Or converter, Or Or Or...

IN short there are only a few outlets (in my case five) with GFCI protection, (And five more without it)

There is a sticker on the second set of hookups that you peel off and it said for another device' also in the panel there is a small black box with hot jumper wires from those breakers.

Ummm... This is not a truck camper specific issue. And it could likely prove to be useful to other RV owners as well? Share the wealth as it were.

I've never seen a way to make one GFI power up two separate circuits. RV manufacturers aren't electricians, and if the are telling you one GFI powers two circuits, this is a sure sign they don't know what they are talking about.

I just had the same thing in the Lance I ended up going to the hardware store and buying a new Gf plug.Yes it does run 2 breakers so I hooked it up the same way and everything is back to normal.

Problem solved, loose wire in the GFCI. Turns out the dead plugs were indeed down line of the GFCI. Not sure what is actually on GP2 as it seems all plugs are on GP1.

That is what I thought....and started me down the wrong path of looking for another GFCI. Wasted half a day, but at least I know my rig more Intimately now.

Are you sure there is only one GFCI?

Any outlets near water (kitchen and bath), or outside, should be GFI protected. Your symptoms seem to indicate there is a tripped GFCI.

Gp1 has the one and only GFCI I can find, gp2 is the circuit failing. Just discovered the whole circuit is not dead. Plug the battery charger is working and is on gp2. Seems to be first after breaker but so hard to tell for sure. Wiring is mostly hidden and hard to chase.

As I type this, occurs to me I can take apart the GFCI (again!) and just tie the wires together to take it out of the circuit. If it then works, my GFCI is bad....even though I still do not understand how it could affect gp2.
