Do you plan on boondocking or having hook-ups at a campground? I ask because 30a service will require hook-ups. To get 30a from an inverter, you'd need a huge battery bank, and a minimum 4000w inverter. And to get 30a from a generator, you'd need 4000w as well.
With my 8a set-up (1000w inverter power), I have to make sure I don't run the microwave along with anything else (except for a light or other small load), but on 15a I can run the microwave along with everything but the 5100 btu a/c unit, (which I could run together, but I'd be pushing the 15a breaker's limit). But I also don't pay $35/night to camp. So to me, the inconvenience of having to be cautious of what I run simultaneously is well worth it.
So, your electrical system should be based on how you plan to use it. 30a service is nice, but it comes at a price.
