I have found burned wiring caused by loose wire nuts located inside the metal box located on the water heater. This is the metal box where the RV 120VAC wires connect to the actual water heater. The connecter are accessed by removing one sheet metal screw. The metal box is on the top right side of the Suburban water heater when viewed from the back. In most cases, you will have a difficult time accessing the wire nuts without pulling the water heater. This is the place to look if you have a burned wire smell when the water heating is heating water in Electric Mode.
